Blizzard 2005

It is now 2:00 on Monday Nov 28. We have been under a blizzard warning since 4:00 yesterday. I have no idea how much snow we have because of the winds. It has been blowing 35 -50mph since yesterday. Out side of town you can't see more than 20 feet at most times. Florida sounds real nice about now.

The drift in front of my pickup is about 10 feet high. It completely blocks our road. There is a stop sign next to the power pole but the drift is covering it.

Another earlier view of the road.

Wow!!! Has it stopped yet? Hope you had lots of food in the house, it doesn't look like you'll be going anywhere too soon.
I know it causes a lot of disruption and work but the snow sure is beautiful.
Stay warm and cozy!

Florida sounds good? Heck, even New England probably sounds good at this point! 10' drifts??? Are you kidding? I guess this means you didn't get to go out hunting today, huh?

Hey Tom,

You guys can all that white stuff. We used to tell Becky and Rachel "We don't want to hear you say I hate anything,do you understnad?" Well, I have to break the rules now that I'm a little older and "hate" snow. I hope you enjoy it, 'cause I don't!!! Even though I'm a little late, today (Nov. 28), my day off, I spent out in the yard enjoying the 67 degree weather in my T shirt, mowing my grass for the last time and mulching the last of the leaves. I loved it. Does that tell you how old I am? Enjoy!

Yes, Florida is beautiful. I enjoyed sitting on my screened porch today under the fan in 80 degree weather. I do miss the snow though... hee hee hee

wow, those are some pics! Some storm! I'd love to have one of those here and stay home too") Glad you are enjoying the day off and indoors Steph!
My grandfather always predicted the amount of snow we'd have in winter by the levels of the Passaic River (don't know what time of year he checked the river though)... its looks pretty low to me, so if he was right, we won't be getting much of that in my area this year"( ...
One of the things I like best about big storms like that is the silence outside... you can almost hear the snow packing down.
Enjoy! (until you have to dig out! That is what the boys are for)

Wow, Tom, that looks really cool...Hope you have a nice fireplace and lots of wood to burn. Florida is nice, but the snow is just too beautiful. The pictures bring back memories of the blizzards we have been in from time to time. Enjoy.

I must say I am not too jealous.....we'll get our fair share of snow, but it never gets THAT bad. Sit down with some nice hot cocoa!

Wow! I thought the post was from Chip and Karen because of all the snow! Then as I read the comments I had to go back and see who posted it! LOL Well I bet your boys are having a great time building forts in the snow and all. I wish we would get one good snow storm like that down here but any time we get snow it's mostly a dusting....and would you believe it, MOST places close down. For a dusting!!!!! Our last blizzard was in 1993. Enjoy!

Florida? You must be crazy! I lived in the tropics for years, and enjoyed it but I have to confess that I always missed snow and always swore that I would retire to a place that had snow. As I write Tobyhanna is white with snow and waiting for two more snow storms this weekend. I guess I got my wish.

I am shocked to realize that we have so many "faints" in our family that hate the most beautiful thing God has made.

Nothing draws the family together better than being snowbound. Just think you can go out and play together in the snow and then come in and play games together and enjoy each other and not even feel guilty. I can't remember if you have fire place but if you do, enjoy. Love ya, Uncle Lee

The truth is, I am trying to make myself feel better by talking about how nice the FL weather is. I miss the snow terribly!
