Update On Stephanie

Because of continual pain from scar tissue due to four c-sections, Stephanie had a full hysterectomy yesterday, January 25. The surgery went very well with no complications. While in a great deal of pain still, she is doing very well. The nurses have forced her to sit up in a chair twice already. We expect that she will return home on Saturday. I will be Mr. Mom for the next six weeks. The ladies in church will be doing much of the cooking but I will get a chance to make my favorite dishes as well. I do believe that the crock pot is the greatest invention known to man. Thanks for your prayers.

Steph, we'll pray for a quick recovery. So sorry to hear of your surgery and being down for awhile... I am sure Tommy will do a great job filling in the gaps for you while you direct him from the couch.... ") Get lots of rest and don't try to do too much too soon.

Tom, hang in there while you are on double duty!! Crock-pot and all.

We'll be praying for you, Stephanie! I have heard that this recovery is difficult. I'm sure that your "nurse" will make it more pleasant...

I didn't realize you were having surgery. Glad to hear that all went well, we'll pray for endurance and perseverence during this recovery time. Hope you have some good books to read, now is a great time to get caught up with all the books you've wanted to read but haven't had the time.
Take care.
(Tommy, I'm glad to see that Pauline also refers to you by that name...somethings are just hard to change!)

In some places I will always be Tommy. In fact whenever our local paper puts my picture in the paper the editor calls me Rev. Tommy Thompson. I don't really know why.

Stephanie is doing well today. She is up walking a little and doing everything they want her to do. Thanks for the prayers.

Yes, absolutely we cook a lot of venison. Since we have three deer in the freezer we have it one or two times a week. Steph uses the ground burger in many dishes. We almost never use beef. A friend who owns a cattle feed-lot gave us a 1/4 of beef so we will be having it more. Just one perk of living in cattle country.

How is Steph now? Hopefully no complications. How is the chef?? Are you still crock-potting away?

Pauline,
I am doing much better now, but still sore and moving slowly. I did venture to the grocery with Tom for a short list of sale items and fruit. I really didn't think this would be much different than my C-sections, but the recovery has gone much slower. Tom is wonderful, and I've been able to rest and heal. I sleep a lot, but this week I haven't needed my morning nap, only the afternoon. (I am thankful for each small progress.) Physically, I am amazed at how traumatic it was for my body. But God is good, and keeps me encouraged.
As for the crockpot, Tom hasn't needed to yet. He's only had to cook twice as I made and froze a bunch of meals, and between that and the church ladies, we are great!
I so appreciate all of your prayers. Thanks.
Steph
