Darlene had her 8th grade dance on June 8th and then graduated on June 10th. We decided to go to the park the day before graduation to take pictures of her in her gown. The school collected the gowns as the kids walked off the field so we would not have an opportunity to get pictures with the grandparents. After graduation we went to a Japanese steak house. The chef did all kinds of fun tricks while cooking the food on a grill in front of us. He threw food at all of us hoping we would catch it in our mouths. Dad and Tom were able to catch the food. The rest of us were not as fortunate. You can see more pictures here.

congrats. Japanese restaurant could have been a blast to see. How fun! I spent my 8th grade graduation party sick in bed. Sounds like you were blessed with a slightly better experience.

Wow, Darlene, you look great! I really resonate with your Uncle Tom. When I saw the picture of you in your dress for the dance, the first thing I thought was... Wow, she really looks like her namesake! ... at least what I've seen in pictures.
You look great... and probably a little embarrassed by your parents making such a fuss, but that's their job! Clearly they're very proud of you! And for good reason.
Big step coming your way. I'm sure you'll do great in high school!

Grrr....I tried to post this yesterday but it didn't post! Darlene and Sheri, Sunday night I went to a Superchick concert and I thought of you the whole time! It was SO AWESOME!!!! I thought they were better in person than they even were on the recordings! Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that....wish I had gotten some good pictures like you did, though!
